Lets start somewhere easy: "What is an Engagement Video?!"
It's one of our absolute favorite things to shoot, that's what! Engagement films are our chance to REALLY get to tell your love story. We have the time to spend on getting those beautiful, intimate and cinematic shots that everyone loves so much. It's when we start getting to know the couple on a more personal level. There is no schedule, no photographers timeline to stick to and nobody else around to accidentally step into the frame. It's when we get to collaborate with the couple on beginning to tell their love story. We listen to you tell us your love story, take your ideas and suggestions, and turn it into something beautiful that you can use to share your incredible news. Think of it as the trailer for the movie that is your wedding day!
People have been getting engagement photos taken for years and years. Everyone loves them, and the same is true for us! It's usually the first thing that an excited, newly engaged couple gets to share with their friends and family. It's something that they will be able to look back on and cherish for the rest of their lives. With all of that being said, there is something about a video that photo just can't give you (and this is coming from someone with a BFA in photography). It is capable of encapsulating a couple and their love in its entirety. It evokes emotion. You can FEEL what they are feeling at that exact moment. You can put yourselves in their shoes. Film allows you to experience that raw emotion as a viewer. It's the exact reason why movies are so powerful and why we all love them so much. We are able to transport ourselves to an entirely different time or place. We become a part of the story. It connects us to the story and to the subjects in a way that photos usually just aren't capable of doing.
Not only can we not even IMAGINE not having a wedding film ourselves one day, but we also can't imagine not having an engagement film. They are something that Sean and I think is SO incredibly important (not to mention, fun)! We love being able to connect with a couple on such a personal and intimate level, and we also believe that it helps the couple to feel more comfortable with us on their wedding day. Let's face it, there will already be a LOT going through your head on your wedding day. Nerves are running wild, anxiety is high, and the last thing we want to do is add to all of that. We want you to feel as comfortable around us, and our cameras, as possible. Engagement films are invaluable in helping us achieve this.
High quality, creative, beautifully cinematic wedding films are more accessible than ever, and yet people are somehow still sleeping on them! The industry is changing, for the better, and we want people to be aware of that. Long gone are the days of your parents hour long wedding videos. As creatives, we aren't at all interested in that. We want to give you pieces of art that you will be able to cherish and share with friends and family for years to come.
